I had a grandma who every Memorial Day we would take her 64 Buick, pick all her peony flowers and iris’ from her yard and take them to the grave of every family member and dear friend she had lost. The trip would take all day. We’d clean the headstones and walk through the cemeteries (multiple cemeteries) while she recounted the story of each person, their life and how they were special to her. She remembered to remember. It was a day I’d come to look forward to spending with her each year…just us two. The stories of her family, her friends that had passed and the impact they had on her life was reflective in her heart and mind. It made me think…am I living a life that will make others want to tell the story of how I impacted them? Are you?
What is defining your life? What are you doing for others that will cause them to remember to remember you?
“Those who are righteous will be long remembered.” Psalm 112:6
